New York State Association of Cemeteries

The Desmond Hotel, Albany, New York

Dear Members of the New York State Association of Cemeteries:

The 32nd Annual Public Affairs Seminar will convene at The Desmond Hotel in Albany, New York on:

Monday, May 4, 2009
and
Tuesday, May 5, 2009

The Seminar will open with a regular public meeting of the New York State Cemetery Board. If you have never attended a state Board meeting either in person or by web cast, you will find the proceedings to be both interesting and enlightening. Board designees are new to most of our members and this will be an excellent opportunity to meet our regulators.

The spring seminar will continue to focus on government and legal affairs. We will hear from the Division of Cemeteries on regulatory issues and have an informative session from Division staff on surviving a state audit with helpful hints to be sure our “i’s” are dotted and “t’s” are crossed.

We will get a legislative report from our Government and Legal Affairs Committee and be brought up to date by our Albany lobbyists. A report from the ICCFA Government and Legal Affairs Committee will complete the first day working session on Monday.

Tuesday morning’s program will again be devoted to the popular and valuable “Ask the Lawyer” sessions. This open discussion format with a distinguished panel of attorneys will be of interest to cemeterians managing any size cemetery. These attorneys with cemetery expertise present a great opportunity to hear some opinions and interpretations of the laws and regulations presented to us on a daily basis. Listen to how cemeteries have handled certain situations in different ways.

I look forward to welcoming back many of our members and especially those members who will join us for the first time.

Please be sure to complete the Seminar and hotel registration forms as soon as possible so you can reserve your place for this productive and worthwhile NYSAC program.

Sincerely,

Jay L. Ivler
Seminar Chairman
